Birthday boy Amitabh Bachchan may refer to the turn of his 70th year as "just another day for me," but for all those invited for tonight's mega event, it is anything but just another day.

So while preparations are in full swing with calls flying to their favourite designers for that last-minute fitting for a tailored tux or haute couture gown to grace the 1,000 affair dinner and drama, there are those celebrities also who may be left out in the cold, never receiving this coveted birthday invite that many so desire.

Emirates 24|7 flashes back into the pages of history to see what skeletons in the closet may stop these celebs from gracing any Bachchan door.

Salman Khan's Aishwarya connection

It's no secret that Salman Khan and the Bachchan daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai shared a tumultuous past, which included 'emotional, mental and physical abuse' according to a statement the actress had released to the media back in the day.

With no love lost between the temperamental Khan and Rai Bachchan, the actor is most certainly crossed off the invitee list.

Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan story

If his wife has a notorious past, Abhishek Bachchan has been no saint either.

A seven-year courtship with actress Karisma Kapoor resulted in a stamp of approval from the Bachchan household and resulted in a brief engagement.

However, the engagement lasted briefly, with no official reason ever emerging from either side.

It was widely speculated at the time that Karisma's mother had demanded a pre-nup from the Bachchans and that demand never went down well.

Others said the actress' drinking was not appreciated by head of the household, Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Anyways, as the story goes, its history now; as are Karisma's chances of receiving an invite.

Rani Mukherji and the Bachchan dream

After the Karisma affair turned sour, many insiders whispered that Abhishek had found solace in the arms of a certain Rani Mukherji.

Stories of a pending marriage soon circulated, with the duo in question sharing a sizzling chemistry on screen. Meanwhile, Rani's association with Amitabh was also an added plus.

But that story never really took off. Reasons were many say insiders, but the crux was matriarch Jaya Bachchan was never fond of Rani's ways.

Others also say, Aishwarya swooped in to hone in on Abhishek as payback for Rani, who played dirty politics during the Salman-Aishwarya fiasco.

Whatever the case, Rani should be in Dubai Thursday for her upcoming "Aiyyaa". So a party? Not happening we think.

Rekha and Amitabh, the awkward angle

Ask any a Bollywood fan, and the true blue lot will swear by the on-screen chemistry Rekha and Amitabh shared in films, while insiders still narrate stories of the duo even today.

While the rumours have never been confirmed, many whisper still of a torrid love affair between the duo, with Jaya helplessly looking on.

The movie "Silsila" which depicted this real-life saga on to reel-life still goes down in history as a realistic slice of cinema that captured the Rekha-Amitabh romance at its peak.

But like the movie, Amitabh is said to have returned to his wife and Rekha has remained forever single after a string of failed marriages.

Needless to say, a birthday invite for her is not on the cards this year.
