Jealous husband puts a hit on wife's Facebook friend

A paranoid husband who tried to hire a hitman to murder his wife's Facebook friend was suffering major stress.

According to a report in The Courier-Mail, Silvanus Satya Naidu was so upset when he wrongly thought his wife of 28 years was going to leave him and move to Sydney, that he tried to hire an assassin.

However, Naidu found himself in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on criminal charges when the hitman turned out to be a police covert operator.

Justice James Douglas sentenced Naidu to seven years' jail, but because of the mitigating circumstances and 345 days Naidu had spent on remand set a parole eligibility date of Februay 19 next year.

Earlier, Naidu, 51, of Rocklea, pleaded guilty to attempting to procure the murder of James Asher Kumar between October 28, 2010, and February 20 last year.

Naidu's wife had begun communicating with Kumar, an old university friend who lived in Sydney, by Facebook and the telephone.

She said Naidu was upset by Kumar's attention to his wife and it gradually built into an obsession.

Kuwaiti man wanted in attempted murder arrested from home

Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man wanted by law for trying to kill a fellow citizen over a month ago following a dispute between them, according to Al-Rai daily.

Sulaibikhat police, armed with a search and arrest warrant, raided the suspect’s house, arrested him and referred him to authorities.

The man had tried to kill a compatriot by running over him due to a dispute over payment of KD 50.

Drunkard in hospital

Police are looking for an unidentified Kuwaiti for causing disturbance in Adan Hospital, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The man was under the influence of alcohol and created a scene because the receptionist refused to allow him to see a doctor unless he showed his Civil ID.

The drunkard later had a fight with the pharmacist when the latter refused to give him medicine without prescription. The man had escaped before the arrival of police.

Muffler proves hangman’s noose

In a tragic incident, a Syrian mechanic got strangled while repairing a car in a garage in Al-Rai area, reports Al-Rai daily.

Sources say the victim was wearing a scarf around his neck to protect himself from cold and the fan of the car he was repairing pulled one end of the scarf with such force that he died immediately.

Maid attempts suicide

An Ethiopian housemaid was rushed to hospital after she tried in vain to kill herself by consuming a large number of tablets and other medicines in her sponsor’s house in Sabah Al-Nasser area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The sponsor’s family members heard the maid crying hysterically and rushed to her room where they found her lying on the floor, writhing in pain.

A case of attempted suicide has been registered against the woman and police are conducting investigations to find out why she wanted to kill herself.
