Two jobless Emiratis, who confessed to stealing from 10 cars in a day in different areas of Dubai, allegedly stole a woman’s bag from a car parked in Al Mamzar area in front of a mosque while a man and his wife were praying inside.

“I got out of the mosque before my wife. When I did not find her bag in the car, I thought she had taken it with her. When I asked her about the bag, she said she had left it on the back seat of the car, so I called the police,” testified SA, 62-year-old Pakistani sales executive.

From the modus operandi, police suspected Abdullah. When confronted, he admitted to the theft and guided police to his accomplices SI and HS.

The three admitted that they had opened the car’s door with a screw driver in just nine seconds.

The two also confessed to stealing from 10 cars in a day from Al Mamzar, Jumeira and Al Qussais areas.

Stolen goods included Dh3,000 in cash, gold jewellery worth Dh6,200 and a Pakistani ID card.

The court will reconvene on October 3.
