Busted: Sharjah car smuggling operation

The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police arrested MPQ and SPC, carrying Iraqi citizenship, on charges of stealing cars and smuggling them out of the country using forged documents.

The police were acting on complaints in the emirate from a number people complaining of car thefts.

According to the police, one of the accused had a prior criminal record for car theft and had been previously deported from the country.

He entered the country again illegally.

The second accused was an expert in the field of auto repairs.

The accused confessed to stealing cars and forging ownership documents of the cars.

The Sharjah Police has warned all owners of vehicles to take caution against theft of their cars and not to leave cars in isolated places or on empty sandy stretches.
