A 56-year-old Saudi woman has been arrested by religious police after she was found guilty of blackmailing a 23-year-old man for more than two years, reported 'Al Bayan' newspaper.

She allegedly threatened to expose his personal videos after he decided to break-up with her, the paper quoted a report in 'Al Hayat'.

The Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CPVP) received a complaint from the man who claimed an elderly woman was threatening to kill him and make public his personal videos. The man claimed that the woman blackmailed him saying she would file a complaint against him saying he 'exploited' her and thus he would be punished by law.

She allegedly sent him threatening text messages from six telephone numbers.

Several times she even approached him at his residence requesting him not to end their relationship, he claimed.

As per the instructions of the religious police, he met her at a shopping mall in Riyadh, where she was arrested.

Saudi religious police destroy 'jinn' talisman

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police sent a unit to surround and destroy a suspected enemy-- a magic talisman asking jinn (spirits) to separate two newly wed couple in the Gulf kingdom.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice rushed to the battlefield after receiving a call from a man that he has just seen a suspected talisman hanging by a tree.

“The Commission asked the man not to come near the parcel before their arrival,” Sabq Arabic language daily said in a report from the Western Saudi town of Almadina.

“When they arrived, they used a knife to take the suspected talisman off the tree….they opened it and found unreadable words and names of jinn asking them to destroy the relationship between a husband and his wife and their mothers.”

The paper said Commission members quickly destroyed the “magic jinn work” but could not identify the targeted couple.

Duo allegedly kill women for jewellery

Sharjah Police unravels the mysterious murder of an Indian woman in her flat a couple weeks ago, reported 'Al Khaleej'. It is alleged that two Indian men killed the woman for her gold ornaments. Police confiscated gold jewellery and a laptop worth about Dh50,000 from the duo.

A 25-year-old woman was found by her mother lying in a pool of blood in her room in Bu Danq area. She immediately informed police, who set out to nab the culprits.

Forensic details from the site of the crime led the police to two young Indian men. One of the men was arrested from Sharjah and he led the police to his partner who had fled to Dubai.

They confessed to the crime.

Man kills wife for being late

A Jordanian man fired seven shots from his gun at his wife, killing her instantly, after she was late to come back home from a visit to neighbours.

The man, believed to have been drunk, told his son to go to their neighbours in Amman and tell his mother to come back home immediately.

“But she was still late…so he went outside and waited for her to come…when she emerged, he fired seven shots at her head, killing her instantly,” said a police statement carried by Jordanian newspapers.
