A man allegedly left two pieces of hashish in the police patrol while he was being taken away after the arrest, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.

The Prosecution accused FRG, Pakistani, 32, investor, of possessing two pieces of hashish of 5.32gms and his accomplice OSO, 37, Emirati, for taking hashish.

Following a tip-off made to police, FRG was arrested on Dubai-Al Ain Road at midnight on May 22 by Al Faqaa Police Station, testified policeman Mohammed Al Fadhli.

“I was assigned to complete the arrest. FRG was sitting in a police patrol, and policeman searched him but did not find anything with him nor in the car he was driving. The suspect was brought to the headquarter to take a urine sample. He was given bail at around 9am in the morning. Major Ayoub Hassan was informed by Al Faqaa Police Station that two pieces of hashish were found in the police car in which the suspect was made to sit. I went there and FRG was arrested in coordination with Ali Ain police and brought to the headquarter. Confronting him with the two pieces found in the police car, he admitted that they were for his personal use. His urine test was positive,” Al Fadhli testified.

FRG claimed that he gets hashish from OSO and another person (fugitive). In coordination with Ali Ain police, OSO was arrested and police confiscated hashish from his house while the third accused is still fugitive, testified the policeman.

Urine test of OSO showed that he consumed drugs.

Corporal Majed Salem testified that his patrol received instructions from the headquarter to stop the car of 77854 Abu Dhabi registration car. “While I was driving on Dubai – Ali Ain Road at the sixth intersection close to Allessili area the required car was seen… so I stopped it and asked the driver for his licence and the car’s card. “I informed the headquarter about stopping the car. I got instructions to arrest the suspect and keep him in the police car… so I did and ten minutes later, a team from the Nati Narcotics Department arrived…  The team searched the suspect and his car but did not find anything with him… As I finished my work at around 5.30am and before I hand over the police car to the station, I cleaned the car. While doing so I found 2 pieces of hashish where the accused was sitting, so I immediately notified my seniors,” testified corporal Majed. His colleague Ali Ahmad repeated the same testimony.

The accused confessed to the accusation and the court sentenced each of them to 4 years jail and ordered deportation to FRG.
