‘Peeping Tom’ window cleaner acquitted

The Dubai Criminal Court acquitted a Bangladeshi cleaner accused of peeping through a bathroom window while a Filipina designer was taking a bath.

The prosecution had accused MJM, 28, of molesting JJ, 38, by peeping through the bathroom’s window JJ was taking a bath.

JJ testified that she had entered the bathroom of her house for a bath. “I noticed that the window was slightly open. So I closed it, took off my dress and got into the tub. While having bath, I noticed that the window was reopened. So I suspected that there was someone peeping at me. I covered myself with a towel and closed the window. I came out of the bathroom shouting and called the police,” she testified.

Corporal Khalid Salem testified that he rushed to Sports City following the woman’s complaint. Checking with the building’s watchman, police found out that MJM was assigned to clean the building’s glass windows.

MJM denied peeping at the woman and claimed that he was just cleaning the window.
