Three young Emirati men have been arrested by Sharjah Police for raping a housemaid and stealing valuables from homes.

The Sri Lankan domestic helper was alone when the suspects visited the home in Sharjah with the intention to steal. However, on seeing the woman alone they allegedly raped her.

The three accused, aged between 19 and 21, have been referred to the Sharjah Public Prosecution.

Recalling the incident, the house owner said he was surprised to find the maid extremely frightened and disturbed when he returned home on that fateful day. "She was crying and it took me a long time to calm her down. She told me that three strangers had entered the home and two among them raped her."

He immediately informed the police. The CID team of Sharjah Police set into action and the three suspects were arrested with a few hours. The trio confessed to robbing several homes.

Cops confiscated several stolen items from their residence.

Armed man raids police station in search of ex-wife

A Kuwaiti man armed with a machine gun raided a police station in the Gulf emirate, fired three shots in the air and threatened to kill any one who comes close to him. He then sat down and asked about his ex-wife.

The 45-year-old man chased his Pakistani ex-wife and threatened to shoot her with his Russian-made Kalashnikov machine gun but she managed to reach the police station in the capital Kuwait City.

“He stormed the police centre, fired three shots in the air and threatened to kill any police man who comes close to him,” Alanba daily said.

“When he could not find his wife, he simply left…a while later, his brother brought him back and handed over the gun to the police, who arrested the assailant.”\
