TV falls on 7-month-old baby in Sharjah, kills her

A seven-month-old Jordanian girl was killed after her tiny body was crushed by a television set which fell on her at their home in Sharjah.

The girl was playing with other children at their home on Monday night when the TV set slipped and fell down on her, causing internal hemorrhage and fractures in the skull and other parts of her body, Emarat Al Youm Arabic language daily said.

Doctors at Al Qassimi Hospital said the girl underwent an urgent surgery but she died two hours later as she suffered from severe brain damage and loss of much blood.

“The TV set fell right on the girl as she was playing with other children,” said Dr Abdul Wahid Al Wahdi, a consultant surgeon at the hospital. “She should have been watched but perhaps parents just cannot keep an eye on their children for 24 hours.”
