A Saudi man who bought a 10-kg potato bag from a local market was shocked to discover one of the potatoes contained 460 captagon stimulant pills, which is banned in the Gulf kingdom and many other countries.
The man said he bought the bag from a vegetable market in the central town of Afif and that it had originated from Lebanon.
“I went home and my family started to cut some of the potatoes to cook a meal…we were shocked when we discovered that one of them had been cut in half and glued…when we opened it, we found 460 captagon pills,” the unnamed man told the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq, adding that he informed authorities.
