A police spokesman says the death toll in a suicide bombing in northern Afghanistan has reached eight, including an Afghan official who was the apparent target.
Police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said another 11 people were wounded in Friday morning's attack in the Dashi Archi district of Kunduz province. The casualties included civilians.
The attack underscored the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan as US-led foreign forces reduce their presence.
No group immediately claimed responsibility, although suspicion fell on the Afghan Taliban.
Hussaini said the bomber had targeted the district chief, Sayed Sadruddin, who was attending a memorial service with tribal leaders.
