The dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6' treated its audience to one of the most mesmerizing performances ever viewed on Indian television.

The opening week episode was a vision of grace for those who are passionate about the Indian dance form - Kathak. Madhuri Dixit Nene matched steps with internationally acclaimed living exponent of Kathak -  Pandit Birju Maharaj. 

The legend and his legacy performed to the tunes of a few Hindi film classical numbers such as 'Piya toh se naina laage re' from 'Guide'; 'Madhuban mein Radhika naache re' from film 'Kohinoor' and the famous 'Kavit' -  'Dhai Shyam Rok Lai' from Devdas.

Maharaj ji, as he is known as among his disciples and admirers, showed his love and affection for his graceful student by saying how proud he was of his quick learner and dedicated artiste.

Pandit ji has earlier choreographed Madhuri in films such as 'Devdas' and 'Dil To Pagal Hai'.

The duo share a close family bond as Panditji Madhuri’s two sons are learning the Indian percussion instrument - tabla - from the maestro himself.

This spectacular performance by the exponents of Indian traditional dance left the two judges - Karan Johar and Remo D' souza - stunned and speechless.
