The seasonal parking cards for the newly introduced parking zones - C and D have been revealed, showing a jump of 60-80 per cent.

According to a call centre agent at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), parking C will come under the same tariff as zone A, and parking D will be the same as zone B.

The parking zones A (and now C) will see an 80 per cent jump in rates for seasonal parking cards. "The seasonal parking A and C card for 3 months is Dh1,400; 6 months at Dh2,500; and 12 months at Dh4,500," the agent informed. Earlier, the seasonal parking rates was Dh700 for 3 months; Dh1,300 for 6 months; and Dh2,500 for 12 months.

Similarly, the tariff for zones B and D have also jumped by nearly 60 per cent. "Earlier, a card for 3 months was Dh450, now it is Dh700. For 6 months it was Dh800, now it is Dh1,300. And, for 12 months it was Dh1,500, now it is Dh2,400."

The RTA had stopped issuing 6-month and 12-month seasonal cards earlier this year, and only 3-month cards were available. "The new parking cards will come into effect in the first week of May," he said.

Earlier, RTA had confirmed to Emirates24|7 that apart from zones A, B, E and F two more zones – C and D were added this year.

The two parking zones - C and D, have already been introduced in residential areas, with the signboards reflecting the new zones.

According to RTA, the current seasonal cards – A and B, will work in the new zones.

“Valid seasonal parking category B could be used in zones B and D,” explained RTA.

“Valid seasonal parking category A could be used in zones A, B C and D.”

“The changes will be announced closer to when it will be implemented,” a source added.

In a statement to Emirates24|7, RTA informed the 6-month and 12-month valid cards will be available starting May 28. “All types of seasonal parking cards will be available, as per the executive council decision (5/2016) regarding public parking regulations in Dubai, starting from May 28.”

So far, Dubai has zone A for street parking, and B for off-street parking. They also introduced E for fish market and F for Tecom area in Al Sufouh 2.
