Sharjah Police have nabbed a ten member criminal gang allegedly involved in the robbery of a leading jeweler chain in Sharjah on the eve of World Cup Finals.
As Emirates 24|7 reported earlier, more than 30 kilograms of gold ornaments were robbed from the Rollah Sharjah outlet of a leading jewllery chain, after the robbers broke the glass door and shutter of the jewllery.
The theft was on 14th July and involved Seven Afghanis and a Turkish National, 20 years to 50 years respectively.
Within four hours police got information about the gang. However, the gang leaders left the country by then.
This will be the second gold thieve hunt in the last six months. Dh 5 million worth of Gold was stolen from the Rolla outlet of a leading jewllery chain by breaking the glass door and shutter.
Sharjah Police officials announced in Sharjah on Sunday that 31 kgs of gold have been retrieved from the 10 member gang, and the gold ornaments were melted and converted into gold biscuits.
The officials displayed the retrieved gold from the 10 member Afghan -Turkish gang, who are also arrested.
The early morning jewllery theft happend on the World Cup Final Day, when the Sharjah Residents were busy watching the football match. Sharjah Police have been switch to arrest the culprits. In the recent past also such high profile gold theft cases were resolved.
They searched an apartment and found 8 members, 31 kgs gold was . Gang leaders are already absconded, and the arrested culprits were in the UAE for eight months. The gang leaders who brought the thieves have already left the country and part of the gold is converted.
