Popularity of Dubai’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display has remarkably gone up in the past few years and that's probably one of the reasons to put Dubai as the top city in the world to ring in the New Year.

If you are an enthusiast, who prefers to watch spectacles as they happen and not on the television, here are the best spots to watch the most awaited fireworks of the year.

1 Burj Khalifa and the Downtown area

Downtown Dubai is the place to be this New Year’s. The world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa will light up with a spectacular fireworks display for you.

As with previous years it is expected to be quite crowded. It’s advised to be at Downtown by 6pm to secure your spot. The event will take place from 8 pm onwards in Dubai Mall Fountain area.

The best place is to view the fireworks is Burj park, Dubai Mall Fountain area or Meydan to get the view of burj from far.

Here is a map of the viewing areas with designated family only sections.

2. At the Atlantis

Atlantis is one of the most prestigious address to be on New Year’s Eve. Many restaurants at the resort will host their own parties to usher in the New Year as the guests enjoy fantastic views of The Palm, the Dubai skyline and the Atlantis itself.

Celebrating at the Atlantis comes at a cost but if you just prefer to see the grand fireworks, your best spots will be Dubai Media City, Kite Beach, Black beach and Jumeirah Street.

3. At Burj Al Arab

New Year parties and fireworks at Burj Al Arab are much awaited by residents and tourists in Dubai.

Traditionally, the eve begins with a cocktail reception in the world’s tallest atrium followed by a gala dinner. The hotel’s especially decorated News Year’s Eve outdoor air-conditioned pavilion are definitely a spectacle and when the clock strikes twelve, an amazing 15 minutes fireworks serves as the final treat.

Again, as in Atlantis, if you want to enjoy the fireworks for free, you can look for a sport early on the Umm Suqeim beach and park, Jumeirah beach park and any area on Jumeirah road.

Remember, the roads in the area are closed to traffic after 11 pm on the last day of the year so make sure you reach on time to enjoy the beautiful view of fireworks. Jumeirah group still has to release its firework plans this year.

4. On the cruise

Welcoming the New Year on a cruise is another good idea. Many cruise companies in the city are organizing a special tour to celebrate the New Year with views of fireworks from Atlantis, Burj Al Arab and from Burj Khalifa - all these 3 from the boat at one single spot.

Again, this comes at a price. There are some good bargains available on deal websites right now so take advantage of it before the price goes up in the days to come.

5. On your screen

It’s perfectly fine if you feel lazy to get out of bed. You can still watch all the action in the comfort of your home.

Live-streaming of the celebrations at Burj Khalifa will be available to view at www.mydowntowndubai.com with live telecast as well on local TV channels.
