New Year's Eve fireworks at Dubai's iconic landmarks seems to be the ultimate favourite among UAE residents. Considering Dubai set a world record last year for the largest ever firework display, there's evidently a lot of expectation this year as well.

While heading to Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and The Palm Jumeirah will require immense planning, we also list out spots across the emirate that will offer spectacular views of the fireworks, minus the crowd and chaos.

Downtown Dubai

If you are daring enough, then head to Downtown area by 6pm. There's clearly nothing more exhilarating than being in the middle of all the fun. Developer Emaar promises a stunning six-part firework, laser and light show that will light up Downtown Dubai. You could even book yourself a table at one of the many restaurants in the Downtown area.

Our only tip would be to avoid taking your car, and take the Dubai Metro instead. "Metro stations servicing @MyDowntownDubai for #MyDubaiNewYear are #BurjKhalifa #BusinessBay & #FinancialCentre," tweeted the official handle for Downtown Dubai.

But, if you must drive your car, then head there earlier. Dubai Mall parking is expected to close early, so head there before 4pm. According to the RTA's twitter handle, "11,000 additional parking yards were provided, as well as feeder public buses for metro stations working 24 hours". In fact, the Downtown Dubai twitter handle states, "Limited parking spaces are available this NYE. Check Downtown Dubai website for more info https://bit.ly/1hI8YMF."

Beach spots with great views

Drive down to The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence, Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim 4 and Palace Beach on Al Sufouh Road for a spectacular view of the fireworks at The Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab. Pack in a picnic, grab a blanket, and huddle in your friends and family, and it’s going into a night to remember.

Cruise along the Palm Jumeriah

Either you could rent a fancy yacht or ride the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority)marine transport and cruise along the Palm Jumeriah and the Dubai creek as the night sky lights up with the incredible fireworks. RTA has lined up special rides starting 10pm on the water bus, water taxi, Dubai Ferry, and abra, so that residents can watch the fireworks. Tickets are priced between Dh25 and Dh300, and residents are urged to book in advance.

Rooftop restaurants

Any rooftop restaurant in the main areas, especially in the business district, will offer incredible views at a price that won’t burn your pocket.

Park and watch

Since the majestic Burj Khalifa is visible from different parts of the emirate, finding a spot off the main roads could possibly throw up some good views, but we must warn residents that parking on the road is not advisable.

Perfect spots

Discovery Gardens and Dubai marina residents are also great spots, so if you have friends or family living in the area, then head to their pads to witness the New Year's Eve show. Dubai Land, Zabeel Park and Dubai Creek also top this list.

Go online

Alternately, you could skip the madness, sit at home, invite your family and friends over, and watch the Burj Khalifa show live on youtube (youtube.com/DowntownDubai).
