It is normally the kind of driving fiasco one would see on YouTube, going viral.
However, for the owner of a jewellery store on Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi and for an Asian motorist, it was not laughing manner. And certainly not for the police.
The man, accused of driving while drunk, drove straight through the glass facade of the jewellery shop after losing control of the vehicle.
Local media, quoting Brigadier Maktoum Al Sharefi, said while there were no injuries, the store and car were damaged.
The fact that it was a jewellery store set off alarms as well and police patrols were instantly dispatched to the location.
Preliminary investigations have it was shown the driver under the influence of alcohol.
He is also reported to have stepped on the accelerator, instead of the breaks, leading it to jump the pavement and crash into the glass façade of the store.
Fellow 'crasher' in Brazil
A motorist who claims he was being chased has survived after crashing his car at high speed into a pharmacy in Brazil.
The unnamed 20-year-old driver was fortunate to drive through a glass window, avoiding brickwork a few feet to either side.
Police breathalyser tests showed he was not driving while under the influence of excessive alcohol.
The crash, which occurred at 4.30am in Chapeco, in the state of Santa Catarina, caused considerable damage inside the store.
Police say they are unaware of the involvement of a second vehicle in the incident.
