In what it calls a great start to the New Year, and as part of Dubai-based telco’s ongoing drive to offer value-added services, Du has announced that it will double the home broadband speeds of its customers at no extra costs.

“Customers subscribed to Home services will now be able to instantly reap the benefits of extra internet speed while surfing, downloading and gaming,” the teclo said in a media statement.

It noted that the new speeds mean that downloading a 100MB file will now take users less than a minute. And on the higher, double speeds, large files like that will take less than 30 seconds to download, optimising the customers' time online.

“This new double-speed upgrade ticks all those boxes and was especially designed to cater to the discerning needs of our home customers. Moving forward, at Du, we aim to continue to expand our roster of exceptional, value-added services,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Commercial Officer, du.

Not all home customers will get it for free, however.

While Du customers on Talk, Surf & Watch (landline, broadband and TV subscribers) will have their speed upgraded permanently, those on Talk & Surf packages customers will enjoy the extra internet speed only until the end of February.

Du also noted that the increase in speed will happen across various locations in phases, and customers will be notified of their speed upgrade via SMS or email.
