Dubai car re-registration, insurance on Fridays

In a much-awaited move, the Licensing Agency at Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the launch of vehicle technical testing and insurance services on Fridays, beginning this year, in conjunction with its service providers.

“Vehicles testing and insurance services on Fridays only, not inclusive of transaction processing, have been launched to meet the needs of a huge chunk of the public who have asked for the provision of these two services during official holidays so that they can avail of them in a smooth manner,” said Mohammed Abdul Karim Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing Services, RTA Licensing Agency.

However, not all service providers will be opened for service on all Fridays of the month, as they will follow a rota system. Customers will need to confirm with the RTA about which of the providers will be open on that particular Friday.

“Locations offering vehicles testing and insurance services on Fridays will be rotated monthly between service providers (Tasjeel, Shamil, Tamam Al-Ghandi, Al-Shirawi, Cars, and Al-Mumayaz). The customer is required to contact RTA’s Call Center (8009090), and inquire about the service provider who is providing the service during the month, in order to save their efforts and time,” he added.

 “No doubt the provision of these two services on Fridays will effectively contribute to serving the prime objective of attaining customers satisfaction in the first place, besides saving the time and efforts of all parties, be it customers or officials through easing the work load during week days,” he continued.

“Short messages will be texted to owners of vehicles whose vehicles licensing will be expiring during a month’s time in order to offer them ample time to process their transactions, particularly as 90 per cent of the Agency’s transactions are processed online through RTA portal, in order to assist customers process a variety of transactions.”
