Dubai Municipality is aiming to make Dubai Frame the number one tourist attraction globally, the municipality chief told ‘Emirates24|7’.

“Dubai Frame will be completed this year and we are aiming to make it the number one attraction in the world,” Hussain Nasser Lootah told this website on the sidelines of the third Government Summit, which concluded on Wednesday.

In January, ‘The Telegraph’, a UK-based newspaper, listed Dubai Frame among the world’s best new attractions of 2015.

The location of the giant rectangular frame is Zabeel Park and was carefully chosen to give visitors the best view of both old and new Dubai.

The project comprises a 150-metre-high, 93-metre-wide structure being built to resemble a huge picture frame, through which landmarks representing modern Dubai such as Emirates Towers and Burj Khalifa can be seen on one side, while from the other side, visitors can view older parts of the city such as Deira, Umm Harare and Karama.

This website had reported that the municipality is planning to launch new projects, aimed at attracting 20 million tourists per year to the emirate in the run-up to the World Expo 2020.

In December 2014, Facebook listed the UAE's top 10 most popular destinations, which included Dubai Mall; Miracle Garden; Atlantis The Palm; Burj Khalifa; Dubai Marina; Ferrari World; Mall of the Emirates; Dubai World Trade Centre; Emirates Palace and Dubai Mall Aquarium & Underwater Zoo.
