Dubai Municipality on Sunday announced the activities of the eighth cycle of its green initiative Car-Free Day, which will be organised for February 5th.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the municipality headquarters in the presence of Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, GDRFA, Dubai, and other officials.
Lootah said the initiative has been witnessing huge participation from various government, semi-government departments and private agencies during the last seven cycles.
He said the campaign will contribute to achieve the objectives of the emirate through the UAE National Agenda 2021 in the field of preservation of air quality and reducing the carbon footprint.
Praising the municipality’s efforts to encourage adoption of sustainable solutions, Al Marri said GDRFA is happy to participate with Dubai Municipality in this green initiative, which aims to protect the environment and encourage members of society to follow behaviour that contributes towards a sustainable environment.
