The Public Transport Agency (PTA) of the Roads and Transport Authority will reschedule bus routes during the holy month of Ramadan and grant Sharjah Transport the franchise to shuttle passengers between the two emirates.
The system is being launched to implement a decision of the Dubai Executive Council and aims to safeguard the rights and streamline the lease relationship, the PTA has announced.
“The PTA is very keen on boosting its services to cope with the demand for public bus service and to cope with religious events and official holidays. The agency seeks to keep pace with the phenomenal growth witnessed by the UAE in general and Dubai in particular in all fields,” said Mohammed Abu Baker Al Hashimi, Acting CEO of Public Transport Agency.
He said: “As of the beginning of Ramadan, we will intensify the Dubai Metro feeder bus service by extending the operational time of this service up to 1am, which will enable public bus commuters to benefit from the additional operational hours of the Metro and bus service after Iftar and Taraweeh prayers. Moreover, the frequency of journeys will also be enhanced for all public bus routes.”
Additionally, Route F50 will be rerouted to Bus Depot (B) at Al Awir and Route 61 will also be changed. The PTA will extend the operational hours of inter-city bus services to late night during Ramadan.
