Pakistani car crash victim battling for life

The Pakistani man who lost his his wife and three children in the tragic accident on Malaiha Road on Saturday is critical and battling for his life.

He is on artificial respiratory system in Al Dhaid Hospital, reported Al Khaleej.

Ali Al Shamsi, Director of Al Dhaid Hospital said the man has extensive internal bleeding, multiple fractures in his skull, chest and limbs.

The bodies of his wife and kids are at the hospital morgue. They will be handed over to family members once formalities are over, said Colonel Said Al Zain, Director, Eastern Region and Outskirts Police Department.

Meanwhile, the Emirati man who died in the crash has been buried.

EARLIER STORY: Emirati, Pakistani family killed in car crash

A Pakistani man returning from Umrah (mini pilgrimage) in Saudi Arabia with his wife and three children rammed into another car on Saturday after he apparently fell asleep, causing the death of his family and the Emirati driver of that car.

The 35-year-old Pakistani was driving his car on Mliha road towards Sharjah after performing Omra when his vehicle suddenly swerved off the road and crashed into the four-wheel car driven by the Emirati on the other side of the road.
 
The impact was so powerful that his car was split into two, resulting in the death of his 31-year-old wife, his four-year-old son and two daughters aged 7 and 2.5 years. The driver was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
 
The Emirati man, 27, was killed in the accident after his car went off the road and overturned many times because of the crash.
 
The semi-official Arabic language daily Alittihad quoted police experts as saying they believe the Pakistani driver was so tired that he fell asleep at the time of the crash.
