Freak Oman accident kills 8 Emiratis

A tragic and freak accident resulted in the deaths of 8 Emiratis, including women and children, early on Friday morning in Oman.

According to eye-witness reports an electrical transformer fell from the truck that was carrying it and caused a four-car pile-up killing the eight Emiratis and two Omani as well.

A Twitter message from the Royal Oman Police traffic department confirmed that a power transformer that had fallen into the path of oncoming traffic from the other side of the four-lane motorway had caused the accident.

The two UAE-registered vehicles were Land Cruisers.
