A Kuwaiti man who wanted to renew the passport of his little daughter was told he must first pay a no-parking traffic fine registered in her name although she is handicapped and has no driving licence, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The father said he was shocked when he was told by the employee at the immigration and passports department that there is a ticket in his daughter’s name dated in 2009.
“She was around 10 years old in 2009. She has no driving licence and she is handicapped. I was stunned when I was told my daughter has got a non-parking ticket from the traffic police,” the man said, quoted by the Kuwaiti daily Al Watan.
The unnamed father said he managed to get clearance from the traffic police but added the employee still insisted on clearance from court.
