Abu Dhabi Police have stressed that they would not relent against sorcerers as they closely follow up their activities to protect the community.

The police added that the sorcerers blackmail victims to get money through fraud, urging public to report those who exercise activities that contradict the values of religion.

Though the police downplayed the volume of swindling cases, about four cases in the first months of this year, they expressed fears that there might be unreported victims of this phenomenon.

The police noted that some victims do not like to report such cases, a situation exploited by the swindlers.

Meanwhile, the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments warned the public over resorting to the sorcerers and fortune tellers, adding that their evil acts damage families.

Sociologists and psychologists said the sorcery is alien to the UAE community, citing that the multicultural community with different beliefs were the culprits.

The specialists blamed individuals who resort to swindlers.
