Legoland Dubai: Your secret invitation to enter park before official opening

A senior official at Legoland Dubai has revealed the secret to entering the park before the official launch, which is set for an unspecified date in October 2016.

Typically, school summer vacations in the UAE run from mid-June until the last week of August or first week of September. With official opening of the parks set for October 2016, most families and kids will miss the opportunity to visit during their annual vacations.

However, Siegfried Boerst, General Manager of Legoland Dubai, told Emirates 24|7 how Dubai residents and visitors can actually enter the park – legally – even before the official opening of the Legoland Dubai and Legoland Water Park later in the year.

He revealed how you can be among a select few who will be on the list of invitees to be part of some of the park’s pre-opening activities, which will be held during the summer vacation period.

“We will invite families for special pre-opening events and rides to help us put finishing touches on the park,” Boerst told this website.

“The park launch month is October 2016 [date hasn’t been set/revealed yet], but annual pass holders may get to visit the park during the summer school break,” Boerst said in conversation with this website.

“Our focus in the first few months will be on training our staff, operational readiness and to ensure that families that visit us have a great experience,” he said.

This will include ironing out any operational issues or omissions, for which a dry run will be necessary.

He said the ‘first to play’ annual pass for Legoland Dubai, which is now available on Legoland.ae, is priced at a very nominal Dh765 while the ‘first to play 2 park’ annual pass for Legoland Dubai and Legoland Water Park was priced at Dh995 – “an even better value-for-money proposition”.

“The combo annual pass will offer value-for-money in less than two visits,” he said while adding that a standalone entry ticket for an adult will cost Dh295 for the Legoland Park, and Dh240 for Legoland Water Park.

The annual pass prices, he said, include a host of offers and opportunities for pass holders, including invitations to special pre-opening park previews and 10 per cent discount on dining and retail options within the respective parks.

“The annual pass will give the holder unlimited access to the park within the next 12-month period, as well as discounts on the park’s F&B outlets,” he said.

In addition, he revealed that there will be special seasonal offers only for annual pass holders.

Burj Khalifa in Legoland? You bet!

Boerst also confirmed to Emirates 24|7 what we’d been itching to hear – a Lego replica of the world’s tallest tower will indeed be part of Miniland in Legoland Dubai.

“Legoland has a very international flavor, but it will have local offerings,” he told us. “Especially the Miniland will be entirely based on what the region has to offer. There will of course be the Burj Khalifa, but also offerings from Egypt, Petra (Jordan), etc.,” he said.

“Legoland Dubai will feature Dubai’s iconic skyline and key landmarks from around the Middle East,” he said. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to create their own skyline at Build A City, a 10m play table with white Lego bricks.

What about the heat?

The park, he said, has been designed keeping local conditions in mind. “There will be a lot of shade and plenty of shaded areas so people can visit throughout the year,” Boerst said.

There will be 20 million Lego bricks in Miniland alone, which in Dubai will be an indoor and air-conditioned interactive area.

Overall, Legoland will have six themed lands, 15,000 Lego models and more than 60 million Lego bricks,” he said.

And of course, there’s always the Legoland Water Park to beat the heat. This park will have 15 water slides, including family raft, body and tube slides, the Lego Wave Pool, a Build-A-Raft-River where visitors will be able to build your own custom Lego raft, as well as the Duplo toddler play area and slides.

Will all this be ready at launch?

Boerst confirmed that all the promised rides and attractions will be ready from the word ‘go’.

“All 40 rides in the Legoland Park and all 20 water slides in Legoland Water Park will be operational when the park opens,” he confirmed to Emirates 24|7.

But that doesn’t mean that the park will not have more rides – eventually. “We will still have space for expansion later, but all the promised rides and slides will be ready at launch,” he said.

“We can’t wait to welcome the first families through our gates,” he concluded.
