The unstable weather that has brought thunderstorms to the UAE in the past 36 hours is finally coming to an end, even as reports of rain in parts of Abu Dhabi continues to hinder the daily commute.

The change in weather also saw temperatures plummet to two degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with the UAE's National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) confirming the drop in the mercury, which was recorded over Jabal Jais at 4am.

However, the sweaters and winter jackets may have to be left at home this weekend, with the temperature expected to rise a few degrees over the next 48 hours, with cloud cover lifting to bring sunny skies.

NCMS stated: "‎There is a chance of light rain over the coast and central inland by morning and day.

"The sea will continue to be rough in the Arabian Gulf, becoming moderate by evening and night, while  slight to moderate in Oman Sea‎."

However, ‎Thursday and Friday will see the probability of fog or mist, especially in the inland and to the west.

Visibility will drop in parts, and the NCMS is warning drivers to proceed with caution.
