Pay attention: What hand-written UAE road signs really say

Have you ever wondered what the small boards on the roads mean?  The wooden ones you see in the middle or on the side of the road, stuck in the sand with short hand-written words mostly in green or white.

So many people who travel the roads of the Emirates every day see these but do not know what they mean, especially as they are written in Arabic.

They are actually best wishes that Muslims offer to travellers and to remind them that God is with them.

Some of the phrases are ‘There is no other God but Allah’ ; ‘Don’t forget your God’, etc.

It is a common belief among Muslim Arabs that the person who reads it and is consequently reminded of Allah, gets blessed.

It is also believed that the person who puts up the sign, also receives credit from Allah for doing so.

Sometimes such signs are put up in remembrance of people who have died so that their souls receive the credit of good wishes read for them.
