A series of superfast cars that could well belong to the 'Fast and Furious league' are being incorporated into the fleet of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS).
Termed the First Responder, the new fleet of cars is equipped with highly advanced machines that can examine and obtain critical data from victims involved in an accident or any other emergency and provide vital initial care on the scene.
“The primary purpose of the car is to reach the accident site at the earliest, even before ambulance,” said a spokesperson from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.
The cars will be equipped with cardiac monitors and other machines that will enable it to collect vital stats from the patient or an accident victim.
“In one of the trial runs last month we managed to reach the accident site on Sheikh Zayed Road in just three minutes. He was critically injured. We examined the patient, packed him and by the time the ambulance arrived he was all ready to be transported to the hospital. It saves critical minutes in times of emergency situation,” he said.
The vehicle is also equipped with communication equipment that can transmit all data to the nearest hospital. “That way the hospital will have time to make necessary arrangements even before the patient arrives,” he said. The cars were on display during the recent Gitex Technology Week in Dubai.
DCAS has a fleet of about 200 ambulance vehicles of various types including three mass casualty busses, considered to be among the largest in the world.
