Mohammed, Hamdan at the second day of Royal Ascot

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has attended in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and representatives from Commonwealth Countries, the second day of Royal Scot Horserace in England, which will conclude on Saturday.

Royal Ascot is Britain's most valuable race meeting, attracting many of the world's finest racehorses to compete for more than GBP 5.5milllion in prize money over the five-day meeting. It dates back to 1711.

The UAE horses performed well in the event.

The event was also attended by Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, Wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Mohammed Ibrahim AI Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler's Court, Government of Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Meydan and a number of sheikhs, senior officials and racing enthusiasts.

Sheikh Mohammed celebrated a victory on opening day of Royal Ascot when Buratino gave the new-look Godolphin a ringing endorsement becoming Mark Johnston’s first winner in the royal blue colours in the Coventry Stakes in front of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed his happiness for this victory, noting that the horses of the Emirates are keen to participate in world championships, to compete for the best titles and winners' medals.
