Senior US lawmakers on Sunday said investigators had found no evidence thus far pointing to terrorism in the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 three weeks ago, and that it was critical to find the plane to understand what happened on board.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers and Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein, speaking on Sunday talk shows, said they had seen no evidence of foul play.
"I have seen nothing yet that comes out of the investigation that would lead me to conclude that (this was) ... anything other than a normal flight that something happened and something went wrong," Rogers told "Fox News Sunday."
Meanwhile, families of the passengers on boatd MH370 have been put on standby for a move to Perth.
Speculation is rife that the route the families may fly may actually be the same one the missing MH370 took, until it disappeared, or maybe even over the actual search area where the plane is believed to have gone down.
However, there are no confirmed reports on either of these scenarios.
As more than two dozen countries and 60 aircraft and ships continued to search for the missing Boeing Co 777 airliner, a media statement by Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, Group Chief Executive Officer says: “Malaysia Airlines wishes to clarify that it will be making arrangements to fly family members to Perth, only once it has been authoritatively confirmed that the physical wreckage found is that of MH370.
“Arrangements will be made as soon as the relevant government agencies have provided clearances for Malaysia Airlines to bring family members to the site where aircraft wreckage will be kept.
“A Family Assistance Centre (FAC) will be established in Perth. The FAC will become the focal point for all activities that have been planned for the families including briefings, religious and prayer services.
Malaysia Airlines is fully committed to supporting all efforts by the relevant foreign Governments who continue to search for and recover the aircraft, and it continues to cooperate with all authorities involved in the investigation.”
