Dad scalps son’s head for refusing to steal

A Saudi father, apparently influenced by the Red Indians in western movies, used a knife to scalp the head of his eight-year-old son before pouring burning substances on it to punish him for refusing to steal for him.
 
The boy, identified as Ali, was rushed to hospital in the southern Saudi town of Sabya with a badly mutilated head after his father cut off parts of his scalp and poured Clorox and other burning substances on his wounded head.
 
Police was told the father ordered his elder son, 11, to help him in scalping his brother and pouring hot substances on the severed parts.
 
“When I told him stealing is Haram (prohibited), he gagged my mouth to stop me from screaming, took me to the bathroom and poured hot water on me…he then started beating me and said let ‘God save you if you say stealing is Haram’…,” the bed-ridden boy told the Arabic language daily Sabq at hospital.
 
“He continued to beat me until I lost consciousness…when I woke up, I found myself in hospital…I think my father was drunk and I used to visit him with my elder brother as I am staying with my divorced mother.”
 
The boy’s Yemeni mother said she had seven children from her divorcee and that he used to force them to steal and beg in public places before they were separated.
 
“I now support my seven children as their father refuses to give them anything…he only taught them how to steal and beg.”
 
Sabq said police arrested the 49-year-old father, who confessed to torturing his son.
