An obese Kuwaiti man decided to undergo a gastric bypass surgery to slash his weight to please his new wife. Instead of applauding his new slim look after losing nearly 110kg, his wife filed a court case for a divorce.
The unnamed woman told court that she had agreed to marry the man because she liked his big body without knowing he was seeking medical treatment to shed weight.
She said that she had not seen him for a long time since they agreed to marry and that he had failed to tell her that he would undergo a gastric bypass operation.
Once the marriage contract was completed and he went into her bedroom for the first night of their honeymoon, she got the shock of her life.
“He was 180kg when I met him first time and agreed to marry him. When we married and we went into the bedroom, I was shocked. He was only around 70kg,” the woman told court, according to the Kuwaiti Arabic language daily 'Al Watan'.
He paper quoted the woman’s lawyer as telling court: ”My client had always wished to marry a man with special physical features. She told me that she had always dreamt of a special husband who would make her happy and proud.
“But after he went into her bedroom, she was shocked and frustrated. She said that when she looked at him, all her past dreams vanished and she felt that she lost her youth and became an old woman. She said that she was shocked by the way her husband looked and was disgusted by the surgical wounds on his body."
Saudi jailed one day for slapping wife
A Saudi court sentenced a local man to one day in jail on charges of slapping his wife on the face twice, a newspaper reported on Tuesday. The wife had presented a medical report showing her husband has also punched her in the shoulder and had beaten her many times but the man denied such charges.
“He admitted that he slapped her but did not beat her up as she claimed. The judge decided to jail him for one day and made him write a statement not to hit her again,” 'Al Madina' daily said in a report from the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.
