Rs1 million vote has Lanka in FB fever: First Miss Sri Lanka Online

A beauty product may have, with all vested interests, set the ball rolling, but the internet fever has caught on and Sri Lankans – from Colombo to Dubai to Canada – are busy canvassing for their favourite beauty.

For the first time Sri Lankans will vote in an online beauty pageant for the ‘Seri Miss Sri Lanka Online 2012’.

The pageant was launched on Facebook in October and with just one day to go, thousands of votes have been cast so far for the 12 finalists.

Organisers originally invited the contestants to apply online via Facebook.

Around 50 women applied and their pictures were uploaded on the Facebook to be ‘liked’.

The ‘like’ was the vote each contestant received.

On Thursday December 6, the the Grand Finale of the Seri Miss Sri Lanka Online beauty pageant will be streamed live at www.serinaturals.com/smsl from 6:00pm onwards.

Those who wish to vote can do so on Facebook here. 

Bidur Salem

The winner will receive rs1 million (approximately Dh28,000) cash prize and a tour to France the organisers told Emirates 24|7.

A panel of judges have also been involved in choosing the finalists.

They are Ajai Singh, President Colombo Fashion Week, Shayana Raat, Director Seri Naturals and internationally acclaimed stylist guru Gerald Solomons.
