Saudi has gauze in his belly for 4 years

A Saudi man who had kidney transplant operation had a piece of gauze forgotten by doctors in his belly for nearly four years before it was removed this week.

The patient visited hospital in the Northwestern Saudi town of Jouf with severe abdominal pain which he has suffered since he had the surgery.

Scanning showed there was a big piece of gauze in his belly and doctors decided to perform a minor operation to remove it.

“The piece of gauze is nearly 40x40 cm..it was forgotten by doctors performing a kidney transplant on the patient in a neighboring country,” Okaz daily said.
