Aids prisoner caught after fleeing hospital

A Sri Lankan Aids-infected prisoner escaped from a hospital where he was taken the police for a blood test but was caught later.

The prisoner had been brought to the National Hospital by the guards of the Welikada prison along with seven other prisoners, including four women and three men.

As soon as his handcuffs were removed before meeting the doctor, the Aids-infected prisoner pushed aside the guard, fled and jumped over a parapet wall of the hospital and entered a school, from where he went to a private institution.

He was caught by the prison guards in the office of the private institution and taken back to prison in a three-wheeler vehicle. He fought with the guards in the vehicle too in an attempt to escape but was subdued by the prison officers.
