Colombo: A four-year-old child in Sri Lanka died due to alleged medical negligence.
The child’s mother was quoted by Daily Mirror as saying that the doctor claimed the child was okay and returned to watch TV.
Damayanthi Kumari said, “When we took the child to hospital, the doctor was watching TV. I pleaded with the doctor to help. He told me that the child has had a fit. A little later, he informed me that the child was OK, and went back to watch TV. Had he been a little more attentive, my child would have been saved.”
The kid was admitted to a hospital in Rattota area of Matale District.
The child had fallen sick on Vesak Poya Day after he returned home from a pilgrimage to the Aluvihare Temple in Matale.
The child’s father was too distressed to speak.
