Colombo: A fisherman died after a fish flew into his mouth and remained stuck in his throat.

Mohammed Fisal, from Siribo area in southern coast of Hambantota, was attempting to take the fish caught in the net by biting off the wires using his teeth, when it jumped into his mouth, reported 'Mirror'.

Initially he was admitted to Debarawewa hospital and later transferred to Hambantota General Hospital where he was in coma until he passed away.

He is the third person to die in 'fish attack'.

The 24-year-old had been fishing in a lake near Weerawila outdoor prison camp.

Mobile phone rings... from prisoner's rear-end

Colombo: During a regular search of the Welikada prison cells, an inmate was caught hiding his mobile phone at his rear-end, according to a Colombo National Hospital official.

The ‘Daily Mirror’ had reported that a 58-year old convict was admitted at the National Hospital where the doctors later retrieved the handset from his rectum.

“Unfortunately for him, the phone rang at the wrong time and guards knew he had a phone at the wrong end.”

The man who was in the hospital for two days, was discharged and sent back to the prison, after the mobile phone was taken out, the official was quoted as saying.

The prisoner is serving a 10-year jail term at the high security Welikada jail in capital Colombo.
