A woman has given birth to a nearly 14-pound baby at a western Pennsylvania hospital.
Doctors at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital near Kittanning say they don't keep official records of the largest baby ever birthed at the facility, but say Mark and Michelle Cessna's daughter born Thursday is the largest they can recall.
"Little" Addyson Gale Cessna is anything but, weighing in at 13 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 25 inches long.
The couple is from Rural Valley, not far from the hospital which is about 40 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
The Cessnas told KDKA-TV that doctors believed the baby would be above average, but even so, they were told to expect a child about 11 pounds.
Addyson Gale was delivered by C-section and joins two brothers.
Dead on the beach: 250 stingrays
Mexican authorities are investigating the death of at least 250 stingrays found on a beach of the Gulf coast state of Veracruz.
Residents and visitors first spotted the dead rays Tuesday on the Chachalacas beach in the town of Ursulo Galvan and posted photos on social media.
Ursulo Galvan Mayor Martin Verdejo says witnesses told authorities fishermen dumped the stingrays on the beach because they weren't able to get a good price for them.
Food vendor Adriana Loredo says she was at the beach when she saw fishermen dumping the rays from their nets.
Chopped stingray wings are commonly served as snacks in Veracruz restaurants.
Women killed while feeding neighbour's cats
A mother and her adult daughter were killed inside their neighbor's home in upstate New York where they had gone to feed his cats while he was out of town, state police said Monday.
"It's very possible they surprised or interrupted a burglary," Maj. Mark Koss told reporters outside the single-family home in the rural Wayne County town of Sodus. He said police found evidence that someone had broken into the house.
The bodies of Terri Moulton, 54, and her daughter, Stacey Moulton, 30, were found by Terri's husband, Charles, at about 4 p.m. Sunday. Charles Moulton had grown concerned and gone to look for the women when, after three hours, they had not returned home from checking on their neighbor's pets, Koss said.
Police did not say how the women were killed.
Koss said it appeared several small fires had been started inside the home and burned themselves out without spreading.
The home's owner, Shawn Yager, was expected to return to town on Monday.
Troopers were looking for information from the public about a dark blue SUV, possibly a Mercury Mountaineer, that they said may have been involved.
