Learner driver kills girl on her FIRST lesson

UK: A 34-year-old woman who was learning to drive and was on her first lesson from her husband, panicked and hurtled down a alley, killing a nine-year-old girl.

Beatrice Mawamba has been jailed for 2 years, reports Daily Mail. While the victim was crushed to death, two others were injured in the incident.

The learner only had a provisional licence and had done online theory lessons only. She did not even know clearly which was a pedal and which was the brake, police authorities said. The judge pronounced in his judgment that the woman was 'profoundly ignorant' of the most basic driving skills.

'She did not know how to apply the brake pedal; she could not find the brake pedal; she did not know where it was or what purpose it served,' quoted Daily Mail.

Mawamba, a mother-of-three from Leopold Street, Chapeltown, Leeds, admitted causing death by dangerous driving in May this year.

Teen faces 29 counts of sexual assault

US: Another case emerges where underage girls were trapped by an abuser who prowled the social networking sites for such easy prey.

A 19-year-old Santa Clarita man is facing 29 felony counts of sex with minors after he was arrested last week by Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigators, repoerts KTLA.com.

Michael Downs allegedly met underage girls through Facebook and had sex with at least 14 girls. He was arrested after a girl complained of sexual assault.

The alleged sexual assaults took place at "various locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley," according to the news release.

Downs' modus operandi was to befriend the girls on Facebook using social events and public places of Facebook. He would lie about his age and say he was 16 and would claim to be friends of other known teenage girls.

He would then "ultimately convince them to meet with him and then allegedly (have) sex with them," according to the news release.

X-ray vision helps spoil Christmas

UK: With this artwork you will never have to wait again for December 25 to find out what is hiding under the tree.

The artist Nick Veasey from Kent, UK, has a penchant for X-raying inanimate objects to find out what is inside.

"It's probably every child's dream to be able to have X-ray vision and see inside the presents before the big day,” Nick told the Daily Mail.

"I suppose it's better than shaking them to listen to what they sound like, as that can cause problems."

Using a scanner ten times more powerful than those found in airports and hospitals, he created these intriguing shots of Christmas gifts.

From high heels to iPhones, dolls to spanners - with Nick around, you never have to be surprised again.

Losing lawyer takes it on opponent

A Kuwaiti lawyer who lost a marital case filed by a local man against his wife waited for the woman outside court and attacked her.

The lawyer and the woman were still inside the department of justice when an argument erupted over the loss of the case by the woman’s husband.

“People watched in shock as the lawyer jumped on the woman and beat her up before tearing her dress….…he then fled the department,” the Kuwait Arabic language daily Alwatan said.

“Police captured him just as he was leaving…he was taken to the police centre and charged of assault.”
