Disgraced Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez should know his fate on Thursday after meeting club officials investigating his alleged refusal to come on as a substitute in the 2-0 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

Tevez, 27, held an hour-long meeting with City representatives on Monday and may put off plans to return to Argentina in case he is required to offer additional information.

Manager Roberto Mancini vowed striker Tevez would never play for the club again after the incident in Germany a week ago. The player was given a two-week suspension as City launched an inquiry.

Tevez has insisted throughout that the row was due to a misunderstanding and has given a full account of his version of events, according to reports in the British press.

City have also spoken to team-mates who were on the bench with him in the Allianz Arena.

Having been left out of the Argentina squad, Tevez planned to return to his homeland during the international break and may still do so if City are able to reach a judgment in the next couple of days.

‘The Sun’ reported that Tevez has been told the probe could last up to seven working days but there is now a feeling it will be wrapped up before Friday.

Mancini is believed to be against the idea of sacking Tevez, who made no secret of his desire to leave the Etihad.

A parting of the ways looks inevitable in the New Year but City still have the problem of what to do with him in the meantime.
