I'm no Judas, says Chelsea new boy Meireless

Portugal international Raul Meireles insists that money was not the motivation behind his surprise switch from Liverpool to Chelsea.
 
Meireles handed in a transfer request with just hours to go before the deadline and forced through a last-gasp move to Stamford Bridge, signing a four-year contract.
 
Despite hitting top form at the end of last season Meireles found himself down the pecking order at Anfield at the start of this term and the midfielder jumped at the chance to join his former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas at Chelsea.
 
The move south proved unpopular with the Liverpool fans, who criticised the player for chasing a bigger pay-cheque. But Meireles claims his transfer had nothing to with money.
 
"These are things that happen in football. I can only say good things about Liverpool, it was a fantastic year," Meireles told RTPN.
 
"People think I am a Judas and that it was because of the money. It was not because of that, I will explain it later, things are still fresh.
 
"It all happened very fast. I am not the only one to blame for my exit from Liverpool, but I will never stop loving the club and I have great friends there.
 
"The most important thing is to give my all every time and try to help Chelsea win titles."
 
Meireles could play his first match for Chelsea on September 10, when the Blues host Sunderland.
