Delhi gang-rape: Hear Amitabh Bachchan - India's conscience - speak

The gang rape of a 23-year-old girl in a moving city bus in New Delhi has sparked outrage and shock among people across India.

However, working through the unmitigated anger and hatred towards the perpetrators, the victim's supporters gathered in various parts of Delhi to show their solidarity, seeking justice and future security of women in India.

Bollywood also raised it voice demanding stern action against such heinous crimes towards women.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan in a recorded message to the country expressed his grief about the incident and prayed for her recovery.

He praised the student community who came out in support of the victim through peace protest. He applauded the younger generation for their efforts to wake up a sleeping administration.

A wave of revulsion and revolution over sex crimes in India spread to the remote corners of the country. Students and community workers joined hands for a change in the system.

Their efforts seem to be bring some results as the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh addressed the nation today.
