11 children from same family drown in boat capsize

Eleven children from the same family drowned when an overcrowded leisure boat in Brazil capsized, media reported Tuesday.

The accident occurred on Sunday, when the boat was crossing Sobradinho Lake in the northeastern state of Bahia, the news website G1 said.

The vessel had only three seats but was filled well over capacity. The owner may be charged with manslaughter.
One of the survivors, Levenita de Souza, 55, lost 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild in the accident.
