Morris named StanChart UAE CEO
Standard Chartered Bank has named Jonathan Morris as the CEO of UAE, said a press statement.
Previously, Jonathan was CEO for Bahrain and Regional Head of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Lebanon. He is responsible for the implementation of the bank’s financial performance, franchise development, business growth and Corporate Governance in the UAE which is one of the top 5 largest markets of the Bank’s global operations.
Jonathan joined Standard Chartered Bank in 2000, initially as Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking Sales, UK before becoming Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking, Europe in 2001. In 2003, he relocated to Dubai to assume a similar role with responsibility for UAE and Oman. Prior to his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer Bahrain, Jonathan was the Regional Head, Origination and Client Coverage, Africa, a position he held from April 2005.
Before joining Standard Chartered, Jonathan worked for HSBC for 16 years in various Wholesale Banking roles predominately in Europe and the US.
Jonathan holds a BSC Econ (Hons) in Finance from Loughborough University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers.
