Gas supply to UAE reduced due to a leak

Dolphin Energy said on Thursday that gas supply to the UAE has been reduced due to a leak.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Dolphin Energy said that "due to a leak on one of its two Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU), SRU1, at its processing plant, throughput to the UAE has been temporarily reduced to 1.8 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) of natural gas per day. This level will be maintained throughout the maintenance period.”

This follows the shutdown of the other SRU, SRU2, from May 11, 2011- June 3, 2011. SRU2 has been in full and satisfactory operation since June 4, 2011.

Dolphin said it is normal practice to reduce throughput in the case of a partial sulfur plant shutdown.

“This avoids the flaring of acid gas and any environmental impact. Our customers have been informed accordingly and there is minimal disruption. Maintenance teams are rectifying the issue, which we expect will be resolved within 3 weeks.”

Dolphin's full year production of 730 bscf is expected to be achieved. Dolphin said it would provide an update when it has more details.
