4 jailed over Abu Dhabi school girl’s fall off bus

An Abu Dhabi court sentenced four technicians at a government department to one year in prison after they were found guilty of causing the death of a little school girl who fell off the school bus through a faulty back door.

A court of first instance had earlier convicted the bus driver after a police report showed the girl fell out of the door when the bus cruised at a road turn in the capital.

The incident took place in May 2015, when the girl who was sitting near the back door fell off after the door automatically opened.

A new report found that the driver is not to blame since he could not control the door because of lack of maintenance for nearly 10 years.

'Emarat Al Youm' daily said the court on Tuesday found the four technicians guilty of negligence for failing to provide regular maintenance to the bus.
