Donia not engaged to Ahmed Mekky

Legendary Egyptian actor Sameer Ghanem has slammed reports his daughter Donia got engaged to fellow actor Ahmed Mekky.

Ghanem stressed that Donia – also an actress – has been very good friends with Mekky since they attended the same university.

“They have been mates for a very long time,” he told reporters at a recent event. “If their friendship develops into love and indeed they plan on getting married, I will be the first to let you know.”

Donia has enjoyed great success on the big screen recently, especially co-starring alongside Mekky in two comedies. Last year, they worked together on Teer Enta, which entered the UAE box-office top five upon release.

This summer saw the return of the duo for the film, La Taragoa’a Wala Esteslam, which is currently showing in cinemas across Egypt and is at the top of the box-office. The film is due for release in the UAE in two months’ time.
