Italy urges banks to cut back on dividend

Bank of Italy Governor Mario Draghi asked the banks to cut back on dividend and use their earnings to shore up capital. "The recession has highlighted the need to reinforce the quantity and quality of the capital of banks," Draghi said. By setting aside more net income that would otherwise be paid out to shareholders, lenders will be able to build reserves, he said.
